We are following Standards set out by Taiwan Academy for Communication Oriented Learning.
The map of “Taiwan Academy E-learning Portal for Chinese Education” is the study guide for the following books edited by Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission:
“Speak Mandarin in Five Hundred Words”,
“Speak Mandarin in One Thousand Words”,
“Chinese Adventure A1”,
“Chinese Acquisition 1”
“Chinese Acquisition 2”
These books are repackaged into fourteen lessons for users learning Chinese as their second language (CSL).
This curriculum is user focused and has been made to help increase their ability to communicate.
Updated study materials are made easier by reorganising several digital study materials. Important vocabulary and sentence structures are emphasised to the user to help them learn the most common vocabulary and sentences in mandarin.
Every major topic of study includes 3 parts:
(1) Lesson:word and sentences
(2) Practice
(3) Audio/Video learning tools
Practice portion can also serve as a self-evaluation exercise either before or after the lessons. We recommend users to follow the guidance of the study map and enjoy learning Mandarin.
The study map is aimed to cultivate one’s communication ability to the classification standard of Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR).
Materials for level A and level B are categorised based on CEFR standard, below are the description of each:
1. Level A
(1) Ability to understand frequently used personal titles, vocabularies and basic sentences.
(2) Ability to read simple text, personal letters, advertisements, menu, timetable and more.
2. Level B
(1) Ability to communicate in daily life and at work. But also be able to comprehend the emotions in a personal letter.
(2) Ability to read articles, reports, and essays and understand the author’s perspective.
Users are encouraged to pick the desired topics suitable for their Mandarin language level to fully take advantage of these study materials.
Speak Mandarin in 500 Words
